The girls stopped and looked up at Becky who kneeled beside Sarah. She was holding Sarah’s Barbie luggage in her hand. “Having fun sweetheart?” She smiled at her as she fixed a small piece of Sarah’s hair. Sarah smiled and nodded. “Yes mommy thank you!” Becky smiled back even wider and kissed Sarah on her forehead. “That’s my girl.” She sighed. “Well sweetheart it’s late and mommy has to go.” Sarah nodded. Becky put the bag down. “I have talked to Karen and Chris about you coming home on Monday. You can miss one day at the daycare, that is, if it’s alright with you sweetie?” Sarah smiled really big and nodded. “OH yes mommy I would like that very much! Me and Ann can play and spend more time together. Thank you mommy” and she gave her mommy a big hug. Ann smiled. “Thank you!” Becky returned the hug. “You both are so very welcome.” She pulled away and looked at Sarah. “I have brought your clothes with us.” She smiled and whispered. “I secretly packed them last night and put them in the car when you were asleep.” Sarah giggled. “Oh mommy you’re the best!” They hugged and kissed and Becky left the room waving bye-bye to the girls. They played a little more, talking and then Karen came into the room. “Well I am glad to see that you two are having a lot of fun!” She said smiling, looking down. They stopped playing and looked up and nodded. “Well it’s getting late and it’s about time for your baths.” She smiled. “Sarah sweetie, Chris will be here in a moment to get you for your bath.” Then once she had finished her sentence, Chris came into the room and he stood by Karen and looked at everything. “My my, looks like you little ladies had a lot of fun.” He smiled. Karen smiled and the girls nodded. “We can clean up all this tomorrow since Sarah will be staying till Monday.” Karen said smiling and she picked Ann up. “Ok sweetheart time for your bath!” She smiled and gave Ann a little hug. Chris was smiling as he picked up Sarah. “I bet a nice bubble bath would feel nice after a long day huh Sarah?” Sarah nodded and hugged Chris, which he returned. He then grabbed Sarah’s bag and carried it with him. Then both Chris and Karen carried each girl to the separate bathrooms in the house. Ann was taken to the bathroom near her nursery which was meant for her and was decorated with Hello Kitty stuff. Sarah was taken downstairs to the guest bathroom by the guest bedroom which was actually turned into a nursery for Sarah since she visited often and it practically was her second home. It was decorated much like Ann’s. Ann was sat down on the closed toilet seat while Karen ran a bubble bath. Ann watched her and as Karen undressed her for her bath, she was curious again. “Mommy, how many bathrooms does this house have?” Karen smiled and picked Ann up and put her in the tub. “Well, there are three in all. There is this one up here, which is your bathroom. Then the Guest bathroom which is Sarah’s, and then the master bathroom which is mine and daddy’s bathroom.” Ann got a confused look. “Sarah’s bathroom?” Karen was washing Ann. “Yes, see since Sarah spends the night all the time here and I babysit her for Becky, we made the guest bedroom and bath hers. That was one of the reasons me and daddy wanted to adopt. We love Sarah though, as if she was our child too but we wanted to adopt our own little girl.” Karen looked at Ann lovingly and caressed the side of Ann’s cheek and then kissed her forehead. Ann nodded and smiled. “That was very sweet of you both to do that.” Karen smiled. She had finished bathing her and was letting her play now and soak. “Why thank you Ann. I am glad you think that.” She then sat on the toilet seat and let Ann play. As Karen sat there she just happily watched Ann play. Ann started feeling sleepy soon and looked at her mommy. “I’m done mommy, I’m sleepy now. It’s been a long day, but fun!” She smiled. Ann carefully stood and Karen wrapped Ann in a towel and carried her all wrapped up into Ann’s nursery. She sat Ann down onto the changing table. She then went to the dresser and pulled out a footed sleeper with little bunnies all over it with baby pink as the background color. She the grabbed a diaper as well. Karen then diapered Ann for the night and dressed her. Ann was grateful for the sleeper for she was very cold natured and the sleeper made her feel warm and secure. Karen picked Ann up and put her in her crib. She caressed her head. “Daddy will be in here to tuck you in too sweetie.” She smiled and kissed her on the top of her head. Ann was sitting up and she nodded. “Goodnight mommy, I love you.” Karen smiled and covered Ann’s legs. “Goodnight baby.” She then left the room. Meanwhile Sarah had been washed and dried by Chris. He carried Sarah into the nursery which was the guestroom that was turned into a nursery just for Sarah. They even had some clothes of Sarah’s there in the room. The bag contained Sarah’s favorite sleeper that has Hello Kitty printed all over. Chris diapered her, and then dressed her in her favorite sleeper. Chris, holding Sarah, then sat in the rocking chair in the room and sat Sarah in his lap. “I hope the birthday girl had lots of fun today.” He said smiling at Sarah. Sarah smiled back and nodded. “Yes I did thank you Mr. Stevenson!” Chris smiled. “I am glad to hear that. Now... I believe there is one more gift that needs to be given to the birthday girl.” He said as he reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a little giftwrapped box that’s pink with a little pink bow on top. Sarah smiled really big and took the box, tears coming to her eyes. “Oh thank you!” Chris smiled as he watched her open it. Inside was a little locket a lot like Ann’s with a picture of Karen and Chris inside and on the back was an inscription that read “We will always love you Sarah Love Chris & Karen” Sarah held the locket close to her heart and then hugged Chris. “Oh it’s lovely! Thank you!” and then pulled away. Chris was smiling. “I figured you would like that very much and since you and Ann like to be alike and we do care about you a lot Sarah, as if you were our own.” She smiled and caressed the top of her head. She smiled. “Thank you, I will always treasure it! I do love you and Mrs. Stevenson too!” Chris stood and placed Sarah in her crib. “Well it’s time for bed now. Do you want to keep the locket with you or do you want me to put it up for you?” She handed it to Chris. “Please put it up, I’ll wear it tomorrow and I can show Ann.” He nodded and put it up on the dresser and came over and gave Sarah a kiss on the head and covered her up. “Goodnight Sarah.” Sarah snuggled under the covers and looked up at Chris. “Goodnight Mr. Stevenson.” And then she closed her eyes. Chris left the room, turning the light off as he left. After Karen left the room Ann noticed her doll was in the crib and she looked at it then grabbed it up. She then felt under her pillow, she had a sudden urge for the pacifier that her mommy and daddy had given her. She found it and put it in her mouth and hugged the dolly. She hugged it tight to herself and rested her cheek in the top of the doll’s head. She wanted to doze off to sleep because the pacifier did feel soothing but she wanted daddy to tuck her into bed. Not long after, her daddy came into the room though Ann didn’t hear him. Her daddy came up to the crib. “I am sorry sweetheart.” She smiled. Ann looked up at him with her big, tired brown eyes with her pacifier in her mouth. She looked so adorable to him, that his heart ached. He caressed her head. “Aw my sweet Ann. You are so adorable, sweetheart.” She smiled with her pacifier in her mouth. He smiled really big and held his arms out to her. “Can daddy have a hug sweetheart?” Ann nodded vigorously and went into his arms. He picked her up and gave her a gentle hug, kissing her head and caressing her hair. “You are daddy’s little girl, you know that?” He pulled her away gently and looked at her. She nodded and hugged him. He then laid her down in the crib and covered her with the blanket. “Goodnight sweetheart.” Ann took out the pacifier and snuggled under the covers. “Goodnight daddy, I love you.” He smiled and caressed her head. “I love you too Ann.” He then covered her up, and Ann closed her eyes. Chris left the room turning the light out as he left. Ann fell fast asleep in no time. |
