It was about two hours before Becky and Karen came into Ann’s room to wake up the girls from their nap. Karen came to the crib. “It’s time to wake up sweethearts and get ready for Sarah’s party.” After the girls woke up Karen took Ann out of the crib and gave her a gentle hug while Becky did the same with Sarah. Karen then straightened Ann’s dress and took out the bows in her hair and brushed the tangles out of it and once she was satisfied she put Ann’s hair back up into two pigtails. Sarah’s mommy also did the same to Sarah. Both mommies then carried their little girls downstairs and into the den. It was made up will pretty for the party with balloons, streamers and ribbons. In the center of the room was a table that was just the right size for Sarah and the others like them. It was covered in a Hello Kitty table birthday cloth and even the place settings were Hello Kitty with matching plates, napkins, cups and party hats. At the end of the table was another table with a pink and white table cloth on it for the presents. There were some presents already on the table that Ann guessed were from her mommy and daddy and Becky. There was also a big pink and white hello kitty banner that read happy birthday. Sarah and Ann were so excited that all of this could happen while they were asleep. Sarah’s friends and their parents were already starting to show up now. The first ones to arrive was Samantha and Cindy the twins. Samantha and Cindy were dressed alike and it was hard to tell them apart. They both wore a pink top with a purple skirt. The only difference was that Samantha had pink tennis shoes on and Cindy had purple tennis shoes. They were some of Sarah’s friends from school. They both brought a present each wrapped in shinny pink paper and with a big white bow and ribbons on them; they placed them with the other presents. Pink was one of Sarah’s favorite colors. Sara gave them both a hug. “Hi! Thank you for coming!” Next were Richard and his parents. Richard was in a blue polo shirt and black slacks. He also set his present on the table with the rest of the presents. Then the last was Pete and his mom. Pete was in a striped polo and jeans. Sarah introduced Ann to all of her friends. “This is my new friend Ann and she is new here. Her mommy and daddy are having this party for me.” She said smiling at Ann who was blushing and seemed shy. They all said hi to Ann and introduced their selves to her. “Nice to meet you all.” Ann said with a smile. Chris then set up the video camera “it’s time to start the party. Sarah you are the guest of honors, what would you like to do first? Sarah smiled real big. “Presents!” Chris gave a little chuckle “presents it is then” he said as he started the video camera. Sarah went over to her mommy. “I just have to show my fluffy puppy dog first to everyone! It’s my favorite!” Everyone then gathered around in a circle in the den. Sarah came back with the fluffy dog in her arms. This is fluffy my present from Ann. she won it for me at the amusement park.” She said smiling and looked at Ann who smiled and blushed. “Whose should I open up next there were so many to choose from?” Sarah said thoughtfully. “Ours next” The twins said in unison. “It’s a two part present.” Samantha said. “You have to open mine first.” She then handed her present to Sarah. Sarah carefully opened the present and placed the bow on Samantha’s head. They both giggled as Sarah opened the box. Inside was a deluxe Barbie set with a Barbie, Ken and two girl dolls. Sarah gave Samantha a hug “Thank you!” Cindy’s present was next. She again carefully took the wrapping off and placed the bough on Cindy’s head too. They both giggled again as well as everyone else. “Now we all have bows on our heads.” Then Sarah opened the box; it was a deluxe Barbie doll house with all of the furniture. Sarah hugged Cindy too. Richard’s present was next and when she opened it, it was a heart shaped zirconia necklace with matching earrings and a tiara. Sarah smiled and put the tiara on. Sarah looked at her mommy smiling. “Mommy, would you please help me with my necklace and earrings?” Becky walked over to her little girl and smiled, kneeling down to her. “Of course sweetie.” She then put the earrings and necklace on her. She gave Richard a hug and a big kiss .All of the girls giggled and blushed when Sarah kissed him. Richard smiled big and his blush was redder than all the girls. Pete’s present was the last from all the kids but not the last in the stack of presents. Pete started to look a little sad. He was wondering if Sarah would like his present after all it was just a doll. Pete looked down at his feet as Sarah opened his present. It was an American doll with a birth certificate that looked like Sarah. Sarah looked at Pete “I love it! How did you get a doll that looks like me?” She said with a big smile, caressing the doll’s hair and dress in awe. Pete looked up, blushing and relived that she liked his present “I asked your mom for a picture of you. The doll was custom made in Astoria for you.” She then hugged Pete and gave him an extra big kiss and said in his ear where no one else could hear. “I love you Pete.” Pete was surprised and said it back to her in her ear, his blush deepening even more. Sarah pulled away and smiled real big. “I would like you to name her for me please.” Pete thought for a moment and thought of his best friend that he had on earth that he missed terribly “Stephanie.” Sarah smiled. “What a lovely name.” Sarah then looked at her mommy. “Mommy, would you please fill out Stephanie’s birth certificate?” Karen smiled and took the certificate to fill it out for her. The twins’ parents got her a Hello Kitty bed set, Richard’s parents got her a Hello Kitty doll and accessories and Pete’s mom gave her couple of Hello Kitty dresses with accessories. They all played some games and soon it was time to have some cake and ice cream. All the children sat at the table with Sarah at the end. Ann sat on one side of Sarah while Pete sat on the other. This was how Sarah had seated them. They all sat smiling, and excited to have some cake, all wearing little Hello Kitty party hats. Soon the lights dimmed and Sarah’s mommy came into the room carrying a cake with candles on it all lit up. Sarah’s eyes sparkled in anticipation and she leaned back in her chair like a little lady and put her hands in her lap shyly. Her mommy then sat the cake in front of Sarah. Ann helped some by moving Sara’s plates and things to the side to make room for the cake. The cake was beautiful and had Hello Kitty on top in a pink tutu, spinning around. There were also roses on two of the corners of the cake and ballerina shoes and ribbons lining all four sides of the cake. Sarah gasped. “Oh! What a lovely cake!” She said happily. Then everyone sang “Happy birthday” to Sarah in unison. Afterwards Sarah made a wish in her heart and then blew out the candles. Everyone then cheered and clapped. They all then had cake and ice cream and talked and laughed as they happily ate. The parents all sat at their own table to give the children some time to themselves and to talk. Also they secretly planned something for all the kids to come in the months ahead. All the children were too busy laughing and talking and eating to hear what they were saying. After they had all had their fill of cake and ice cream, one by one Sarah’s friends started to leave because it was getting late. Sarah hugged them and said goodbye as they left and thanked them for the presents. As the last one left Sarah started to feel a little sad karren and chris noticed as well as Sarah’s mom. “Sarah what’s wrong sweetie?” Karen asked. “All my friends had to go home and soon I will have to go home too” She said looking out the window as the last one left and looked up at Karen looking very sad. That made Ann a little sad too. Sarah and Ann continued playing with Sarah’s new toys. Karen, Chris and Becky went to the dining area and discussed the girls’ sadness. Karen sat at the table they had eaten at earlier. “Becky, would you mind if Sarah stays for the rest of the weekend?” Chris nodded in agreement. Becky smiled. “You know, I was just thinking the same thing! I think that would be a wonderful idea!” Karen, Chris and Sarah’s mommy came back into the den where Sarah and Ann were playing with the Barbies and Barbie doll house and with a big grin on all of their faces. Becky the came over to Sarah and kneeled by her side. “Sarah honey, we have one more surprise for you.” Sarah perked up from where Ann and her were playing “what is it! What is it!?” Sarah couldn’t think of anything it could be. She had gotten presents from everyone already. Karen then chimed in. “Well since you both are such good friends and have been so kind to all of your friends so we thought you would like to stay here over the weekend with Ann. How does that sound to you?” Ann and Sarah both jumped up from where they were playing and hugged their parents tight. “You’re the bestests” They both said to their parents almost in unison. Sarah looked at her mommy “I love you mommy” Karen looked at her beautiful girl and smiled. “I love you too sweetheart.” Ann looked up at her mommy too. “I love you and daddy so much mommy!” Tears were coming to her eyes. Both girls then looked at each other and held each other’s hands and jumped up and down gleefully like little school girls. After jumping for joy, the girls grabbed all the toys and ran upstairs to play in Ann’s room. They had some difficulties getting it all upstairs but Chris laughed and helped them. |
