Tears streaked her cheeks. “MOMMY!!” She cried out as she always did when she had a bad dream. She had done this even after her biological mom had passed away. She looked around, crying her eyes out, realizing she was safe but she couldn’t help but cry. She lay on her side and curled up into a fetal position and continued to cry. Her dream was so horrible. In only moments, Ann felt herself being picked up. It was Karen, her new mommy, she wrapped her arms around her crying little girl. “Oh mommy! I had a bad dream! It was so horrible!” She said between sobs as she hugged her mommy as tight as she could. She was grateful for having a mommy after all these years. Her mommy hugged her gently, kissing her head. “Shh baby, it’s alright, mommy’s here.” She rubbed Ann’s back and walked to the rocking chair. She sat down and rocked her, rubbing her back and kissing her on the head speaking sweet words to her. She felt so comforted and soon she found herself getting sleepy. In no time she fell back to sleep. This time she had no dreams. As Ann slowly opened her eyes, she could see Karen smiling warmly down at her. The lights in the room were dim and she was grateful for that for it was taking a bit for her eyes to adjust. Karen caressed the side of Ann’s cheek. She blinked her eyes several times up at Karen, trying to wake up. Ann then slowly sat up, her hair was in disarray and she looked around and yawned and rubbed her eyes. Her mommy was still smiling at her. “Aw sweetheart, you look so cute when you first wake up.” Karen then picked her up and held her close, giving her a little hug. Ann returned the hug. It felt so nice to be hugged so lovingly as if she could actually feel the love, even if she still felt groggy. Chris crept into the room and came over to Ann and Karen. He smiled and caressed Ann’s cheek. “There’s my little angel. Did you sleep good sweetheart?” Ann blushed, smiling and nodded. She was still waking up so she really wasn’t one for words at the moment but she was still thinking, how grateful she was that it was all real and not a dream after all. Chris smiled. “That’s great sweetie! Well I will leave you two lovely ladies alone so mommy can get you ready.” He looked at Ann and kissed her on the forehead, then left room, giving them a little wave and a wink. Ann was very surprised. Her daddy was even more charming, she found herself loving him more and more. It was nice to know her daddy loved her a lot. Karen shook her head and laughed. “Your daddy is something; isn’t he?” she then turned the big light on in the room. Karen then sat Ann down on her feet, on the carpet. Karen went to the closet and looked through it, bringing back a cute little blue dress with flowers and a white pinafore that wraps all the way around and ties in the back. She also grabbed some black Mary Jane shoes, white stockings with lace ruffles, matching bows, petticoat and a different looking diaper. She knelt in front of Ann and as she undressed her she talked. “Remember when I said daddy got time off from work to be with you?” Ann nodded. “Well sweetheart, daddy and I want to spend a few days with you so we have a surprise for you, but I want to make sure it’s not too much too fast.” Karen smiled and kissed her cheek. She smiled at her mommy. “Oh no mommy, it’s not, that makes me happy to know that you both love me enough to do something sweet for me.” Karen smiled. “That is great to know sweetheart. Ok now since this will be a long day and to make you more comfortable, I have some training pants for you to wear. They are a lot like a diaper but if you need to potty, you can choose to go like a big girl if you want, that is.” Karen held them up for Ann to see. They were actually really cute, with bunnies and flowers all over them. “I like them mommy, they’re really cute!” Ann smiled. Karen nodded and took off Ann’s diaper and slipped on the training pants. “The reason I had you in a diaper, sweetie was because they told me that there was a possibility that you could have a reaction to the drugs when they took you and make you have a loose bladder, but I think it’s safe now.” Karen was dressing Ann now in the stockings, petticoat dress and shoes now. Karen was quiet for a bit as she dressed Ann. “Oh ok well that makes sense. I didn’t mind too much though mommy.” Ann was moving her hair out of the way so her mommy could zip up her dress. Karen then put Ann’s little pinafore on her. “Well sweetie, I want you to be happy and comfortable, and I have plenty of training pants packed and ready. Also if you ever feel uncomfortable about something, you just let me or daddy know. ” Ann nodded and smiled. When she said packed, Ann knew then, that meant they were going on a trip somewhere. Karen went and got a hair brush. Ann still had some curls in her hair from yesterday. Karen then came back to Ann and kneeled by her. She began brushing her hair which became wavy as she brushed it, but it still looked very pretty. She put the matching bows in her hair in ponytails on each side of her head. Karen then turned Ann around to look at her better. “Oh you are so pretty Ann, just darling.” She smiled and hugged her gently. Ann returned the hug. “Thank you! I love you mommy! You are so sweet to me. Better than anyone I have ever met.” Karen then pulled away from Ann gently. “You’re welcome sweetheart. I love you too Ann, very much! You can look at yourself in the mirror over there if you’d like.” She pointed to an oval mirror in the corner on a stand. Ann went over and looked at herself. Her mommy was right. She looked really cute and the dress was very pretty. It made her smile to see herself looking clean and pretty for a change. Karen saw her smile. “I’m so happy to see you smile Ann.” She came and kneeled behind Ann and gently grasped her shoulders and put her cheek to Ann’s with them both looking in the mirror. “You deserve to be happy Ann. You are a lovely little girl. Me and daddy will always be here for you, for we love you very much Ann.” She smiled at Ann’s reflection. Ann smiled back and turned around and gave her mommy a big hug and a kiss. “I love you and daddy too mommy.” Karen returned the hug then pulled her away gently. “Ann sweetie you can play a bit while I and daddy load the car. Daddy will be back to get you okay?” She caressed her cheek. Ann nodded, smiling. Karen then left the room, leaving Ann alone. Ann then decided she would look in the toy box again. She found a lot of cute stuff, but she really wasn’t in the mood for any of them. On one side of the room there was a comfy looking white chair that was just Ann’s size, so she went over to the bookshelf and picked a book out that looked interesting and took it over to the chair and sat down to read while she waited. The book had many stories in it, and all were short but Ann had only gotten about half way through when daddy came into the room so quietly that Ann didn’t hear him come in. He walked over to her and watched her a moment. “Hello Ann sweetheart.” She looked up from the book and smiled at him. “Hello daddy!” He crouched to her level. “You know, that is a really good book.” Ann nodded, smiling. “I really like it.” Her daddy’s smile grew wider. “You can bring it with you if you like.” She smiled. “I would like that a lot!” She then got up and hugged him, with the book still in her hand. “What else would you like to take with you?” He picked Ann up into his arms. Ann looked around the room a moment. She remembered the locket, so she looked at her daddy and smiled. “I would like the locket please?” Her daddy went over to the music box, sitting on the dresser, pulled the little drawer out and took the locket out. He then went and sat in a cozy chair his size and sat down, setting Ann on his knee. He then put the necklace on her as she held her hair out of the way. She felt a bit nervous and excited at the same time to be alone with her daddy. He turned her on his knee to look at her. “You are very pretty Ann.” Ann blushed and smiled. “Thank you daddy.” “You’re very welcome sweetheart!” He smiled and stood. Holding her in his arms like a parent would their child. Ann could feel the butterflies in her stomach. He looked around a bit. “Do you want to take your doll and the nuk we got you?” Ann nodded. “Yes please.” She still felt a little sleepy so she rested her head on his shoulder. He gently rubbed her back with one hand. That really comforted Ann a lot. He then went over to the crib and got her dolly and Ann held out her hand to take her. Ann hugged the doll close and leaned against her daddy’s chest. He then grabbed the nuk and cut the lights off before leaving the room. Her daddy then carried her out to the car, with Karen behind the wheel. Chris gently sat Ann in the car seat and strapped her in. She looked around, as her daddy sat the sippy cup down next to her and went to the passenger’s side in the front. She also noticed a blanket in the seat. As she sat in the back, she was very quiet as she looked out the window. Her daddy glanced back at her from time to time in which they would smile at each other. After about 45 minutes into the ride, Ann had fallen asleep. She was being gently nudged by her daddy. “Ann sweetheart, we have arrived.” He then gently unstrapped her from the car seat. She rubbed the sleep from her eyes, looked at her daddy and stretched. Her daddy picked her up and out of the car. Ann looked to see where they were. She could not believe her eyes, the place was a huge hotel and it looked like one in one of those travel brochures. They even had a bellboy to help them with their luggage. Ann was still sleepy so she rested her head on her daddy’s shoulder and without meaning to; she fell asleep in moments. She awakens on a soft bed and the room is semi dark but she could still make out the room some from the light coming through the curtains. She slowly sat up and looked around the bed was huge, like a giant’s bed really and she was covered with a blanket. Ann stretched and rubbed her eyes. She then went to the edge of the bed, looked to see how far off the ground the bed was. It was maybe 5 feet or more off the ground, not too far. She then lay on her belly, grabbing the sheets of the bed and slowly slid herself off the bed. She then let go when she was sure she was close to the ground. Her feet touched the ground almost instantly. Once she was off the bed and on her feet, she looked around the room. She could see light coming from a door and went to it. The handle, she could not reach. She knocked. “Mommy? Daddy?” She could hear her mommy talking and then heard her coming towards the door as she spoke. Ann moved away from the door. Her mommy opened the door and looked down at Ann and smiled. “Hello there sweetie!” She kneeled in front of Ann. “Did you enjoy your nap?” Ann nodded, smiling. “Yes thank you. How long did I sleep mommy?” Karen picked Ann up and stood. “For about an hour.” Her mommy then straightened Ann’s hair with her free hand. Her daddy then walked up to them. “Ah so my little angel is finally awake!” He smiled. “You ready to see why we made the trip sweetheart?” Ann smiled and nodded vigorously. They then all got ready to go after her mommy dressed her in some really cute play clothes. Once Ann was dressed and ready, her mommy carried her and her daddy carried her stroller out the door. She looked around when they stepped outside. She could see in the distance that they were at an amusement park of some sort. She smiled really big. “Wow, we’re at an amusement park!” She then hugged her mommy. She wanted to hug her daddy too but couldn’t at the moment. So they sat out to have some fun! |
