| Introduction: Two friends from the time as children who discover their love growing like a garden, make their plans and goals, and desire to share the future with one another. | ||

I hope each of you enjoys this poem, it comes from the stories I have heard friends of mine tell one another in how they married their best of lifelong friends; of how they discovered the way such love grew over the years even when they did not understand or know the wonderment awaiting. One bespoke of it to me as if a "garden of love grew up over the years" between them, and hence this was born... If the readers would please comment, I am open to suggestions; as most of my current writings due need to be better. Thank you and enjoy. As children we became friends, Forging bonds without ends, In those times year after year, The other became very dear. In math you helped me, With Shakespeare I showed you “How to be…” Weekends we would be on the beach, Each would be just within reach. Then came that day you to me did glance, Not so innocent looks making my heart prance, Our hearts wove the story of love, Our bodies still innocent as the dove. We found work our last school year, The coffee shop we hold very dear, The best of teams we made very well, So to the all did the boss did always tell. While our friends would go and play, We tucked each our money away, Of our plans we have so talked, Of the life path we wish to so walk. Our great garden of love grew, So that all about us clearly knew, Each is there for the other, The future together we will discover. Shortly came our majority birthday, Then graduation was only hours away, Next was a Vespa me and you, We could not find one that could seat two. Finally the day came we found our place, Old furnishings with which it be graced, Curtains of old, old lace, Our pictures hang over the little fireplace. Small thought the apartment be, It is the first home for WE, Tonight we have planned for very long, Our hearts love has grown so very strong. There in our room by the single light, So faint and soft yet so very bright, I got the first true look at you, So with me did you too. And so our bodies did embrace, As our passions did race, Hearts entwined die we, Find what could be. Now we have become as one, The old paths are done, The future is for you and me, We will discover it as WE. All of our life our paths have twined, Ones we did not decline, Our great garden of love will continue to grow, How much more only the future does know. (Fin.) |
