2012-06-08 16:24:38 Tale of the Elves - Chapter One - Life is Precious One thing that popped in my head, if I start a story where the main character's name is unknown in the beginning, I find it jarring when all of a sudden, in the middle of a fight scene, we know his name without anything to bring it on. Usually I wait for an introduction, or I have the character talk to himself. Maybe while hiding in the bushes, he mutters to himself and uses his own name, that way it's not "He's a man, oh wait, now he's Arealam." It does go kind of fast, and the characters don't really feel real. It's important to make sure you know what kind of a story format your writing in and keep to it. There is "God mode" where you know every thought of every character, "Single player mode" where you know every thought and move of a single character but still third person. "First person shooter" is inside their head, using "I did" "I saw" "I broke his neck." A lot of people tend to forget which mode they are writing in.And yes I'm a nerd. It's why I write scifantasy. And I was trying to show that Denzin doesn't HATE his father, he just simply doesn't agree with him. Also, the baby is his sibling. He's not about to do anything to it. His is a dying breed, the Regenerators are all but wiped out, having to interbreed with other races to survive. That you will learn in Sinishi's story. I tend not to put all my details into one story. Like you will never hear about what Ha'trin and Ha'tinre mean again in any other story. All of my stories are woven together like that. There's just too much info in my head to fit in a single story. Anyways, for his personality, I don't think it's too strange. He was raised very family oriented. Considering he speaks to and cares for all his half siblings, it's no stretch to think he wouldn't want another.

Although, I suppose that depends on your definition. Personally, the definition of cheating is when there is a mutually understood and accepted relationship and any sexual activity outside of the relationship, unless sanctioned by the other partner, would be cheating. There is no understood/accepted relationship between Shime and Higzashi other than they enjoy each other in bed. At the moment, they are little more than fuck buddies. Higzashi is jaded, lacking in love, but he is not cold hearted. He wants Shime to be safe and pleased, but that's as far as his caring goes. He also wants to keep his species alive by any means necessary.

Higzashi is using Shime, and Denzin loves her and wants her as his mate, whereas Higzashi wants to use her to his own ends, and the ONLY reason he is trying to trick her into thinking that he wants her as a mate is because she's a deadly Ha'tinre and she knows where their village is. She can bring her whole clan back to kill them. So, it wasn't "cheating" per say. It was in a way. But if you remember, Higzashi told Denzin that if it wasn't for him trying to keep Shime from becoming an enemy, he wouldn't care if his son made moves on her. Thus, it is not technically cheating.

I created my first planet when I was 4 years old. The Ha'trin and the Ha'tinre were ripping each other's faces off when I was 9 years old. Assassin's Creed came out in 2007. Thus, my creations have been around longer. I dare say the bastards ripped me off! ^.^ I also had the Red Tide fighting the Alliance when I was 10, the world of The Rat and the Dragon when I was 11, and Mother Maerin (goddess of all cats) around the same time, my theory of humanoid evolution at 12, and my first erotic story at 13. I've been at the whole science fiction thing for a very very long time. I told my mother dragons were talking in my head when I was 3. Only then I called them lizards. Maybe I'm insane, but you are all benefiting from the aliens that talk to me and tell me about their lives. So learn something before you open your mouth.

The ending for it now is so completely different it's almost like the old versions did not exist, and that's why I had them removed. As for the werewolf sex series, goddammit, it seems people can read but not comprehend. I'm finished with it, not continuing, it ran itself into a wall that I cannot get over, my mind is full of more important stories. I may one day revise the story, but not for a long time. Once I'm done with Dragon Tamer, and it's sequel, I will start To be an Assassin and then this story here. So, yeah, may not see Wolfy and Anubis for years. I post stories as I see fit, I'm not getting paid for it yet, so there's no incentive to finish some stories over others. Though the thing is, just because Ha'trin are against oppression of the weak, greed, betrayal, and revenge does not mean they are always nice people. When Alt scoffs and tells her they are hardly heroes, he wasn't joking. It was only by his sense of morals, and the fact that their society is matriarchal, that he didn't just outright rape her or just let her die. It's not uncommon for Ha'trin to kill those who stand in their way for the sake of the greater good. Same goes for the Ha'tinre, they may be a bunch of conniving assholes who lack mercy and know only how to use the agent of fear and pain, but on occasion you'll find a few who refuse to kill like children and such. Also, it's not uncommon for the two orders to kidnap each others apprentices. But for all their talk, Ha'tinre are really kind to their students, for the most part. Thinking of writing a story where a Ha'trin kidnaps a female student to "save" her... Could be fun.

I'm on the wedding scene between Sre and Roscrow, which has to be the most random and most descriptive chapter out of the whole book. They get kidnapped by the townsfolk and MADE to wear traditional garb, which Sre's dress is... um... there has to be a word more descriptive than just plain beautiful? Breathtaking? Gorgeous? Nope, none of those do it justice. Roscrow gets put into pure white ceremonial armor. It's also the chapter you find out Kelvin is... um... a little different. Also, Roscrow's dad is such a sarcastic ass. I'm debating putting just that chapter up. Anyways, yeah, wanted to give you all an update.

I started looking into that because I've had my roommates accuse me of that (they read my story as I write it and they are huge McCaffrey fans) and according to "The Dragonlovers Guide to Pern" the impressing is instant and even makes a emotional bond where they can sense each other's emotions. Yes, my dragons impress on the first thing they see, but more similar to a foal impressing on its mother after dropping to the ground and trying to stand. The soul bonding takes about a month or two to truly get strong, and then they only get a mild sense of each other's presence. Though that all gets slightly explained later in the book. It's better explained in the sequel because someone very important dies, and his dragon isn't so happy....

I just haven't had the need to write in any more scenes. The story is about Calsa, not Alt. But son't worry, there will be a mass die off soon enough. War is brutal and magic very often overcomes technology.

No, I've not posted this anywhere else, the other site I post my erotic stories on do not allow an exurb from a book, can't just post one chapter to get people interested, so I have not bothered to post there. As for removing the unnecessary sex, I thought about that, but when I started receiving comments of my stories being like a cross of Anne McCaffrey (who's books I really don't care for, her dragons seemed so single dimension with no personalities to me) and Laurel K Hamiliton, I decided to read one of her books and was left wondering how she could possibly get away with it all. 3somes all over the place, sex every other page or so. Did give me some wording ideas, but also made me think to keep the sexual aspects. There are a few spots later on where I don't bother describing the scene, just leaving a hint it had occurred. But I thank you for the suggestion.

And if I ever want to publish it, as many of you have suggested I do, I can't very well have the story online to read for free, or I'll never make any money. So I must let you all know that this story will be continued in bound and printed form as soon as I'm done revising it all yet again! This time, the whole situation of her life becomes much more realistic, and the reason Roscrow even cares about her at all is better explained. Altogether, the 3 revision is the most complete and detailed. I will post the first 3 chapters of it when I'm done. After that, watch out for it on the shelves! They all lived happily ever after. Another member of Wolfy's team survived, and they found him, he falls in love with Snow and basically steals her away and raises the pups she has, even Anubis'. Anubis is almost killed by Wolfy's gov but Snow and HazScott (the other male) rescue him and Wolfy and help them escape to live in the woods. And it's all happy and fluffy puppies and butterflies and rainbow farting unicorns! Except for that one unicorn, Ed, he just farts marshmellows. Dunno if that's any better. Apparently he thinks really naughty thoughts so he can't get rainbows..... I'm gonna stop staying up so late! XD

He always took on the likeness of a panther so no one would know that he was an ancient, nearly extinct variety of dragon that had mastered the ability to take on other forms. They had been hunted to near extinction by other dragons. Cylthan had taken a human form which her "brothers"- sons of Maelic- had forced her into to protect her before sending her away and being killed by their mother in her rage. There was actually a romance that had gone on between them which was the reason Cylthan ended up killing Roan in the end. But that didn't help none because Draen died too, turning dragon and leaping in front of Cyl to protect her. And the comment several below, hey man, get out of my head. Quit spoilin it for everyone. XD

The only book from her I enjoyed was Dragon Song, and even that I only ever bothered to read once. Her dragons don't even seem like they could exist in our dimension, and that "Thread" is wholly unbelievable as a viable enemy. Coming from a moon? If you want a truly good series involving dragons, DragonLance Saga is my inspiration. Also read "A Time for Dragons" which is about time traveling dinosaurs. XD Even I couldn't think up that one!

As a fellow author, I must say, with a little more polishing this could be a wonderful story. However, because you are writing in the first person, she can't possibly know what the king is thinking. And neither can the audience for they are seeing everything out of the main character's eyes. Second, for being so small, I think his size would tear her to pieces. Like riding a whale. And thirdly, more explanation of the bond between humans and demons. If every time they fucked they got more violent, they'd start killing every member of the same gender they saw. Also, more explanation as far as how the demons are made, why are there humans in the demon realm, and that fun stuff. Otherwise, an excellent story with great potential! I liked it. Only, when he scratched her she made no show of feeling it... that was a little odd.
