To the pin-head author who has bravely marked this story down from 91.2% to its current level by way of some 50 "negative" votes in half an hour, does this make your OWN work any better? your status as an author enriched? your self-esteem boosted. I rather doubt it. "Tis the cowardly action of an insufferably jealous lowlife who cowers in the shadow of anonymity, the kid at school who stole his friend's compass because it was better than his own. Enjoy your brief moment my friend - while it lasts!

For me, the story was a lesson on how to write decently. Loved the ending as well, it was fully appropriate I thought. |

Well thank you for those kind words - I am assuming you are female! Just to let you know that another remembrance entitled "In Times Past" WILL be published on XNXX September 23rd or 24th. It is a companion piece in many ways to this story.
Watch out also for "When What To My Wondering Eyes Should Appear? a day or so later. Anyone who enjoyed "Once upon a Childhood" will appreciate this tale. |

Maybe I'm way left-field here but I see no reason why I (or any author) should be obliged to explain our personal lives to readers. In this case though I will!
At the time of this story (early seventies) I was married to the young lady in question and we had just the one daughter. She took her own life many years later regrettably. I am sorry if this seems to conflict with the facts within my stories.
For your information I remarried in the early eighties and have now as I mentioned, four kids, three girls and one boy who IS in fact, the eldest.
Next time I suggest you don't jump to conclusions and start taking dictatorial attitudes.
